1. Chewing gum takes seven weeks to pass through the human digestive system
Fact: it takes the same time as other food
2. There are only 660 mountain gorillas in the world
Fact: There still about 50.000 lowland gorillas in central and west Africa. However, mountain gorillas are very rare and the population is declining.
3. Eating chocolate gives you spot
Fact: You won't get spots if you eat chocolate. Scientist say that some chocolate, especially dark chocolate, is good for you! You may get spots from eating fatty foods.
4. If you eat carrots, you'll see better in the dark
Fact: No! of course carrots are good for you but eating lots of carrots won't make you able to see in the dark.
5. Wearing glasses makes your eyes weaker
Fact: If you are short-sighted, glasses will help you to see better. Your problem won't be cured if you wear glasses but it won't get worse either.
6. If you eat pasta, you'll get fat
Fact: You won't get fat from eating pasta unless you add lots of oil, butter or cream.
7. If you have freckles, you may get skin cancer
Fact: Freckles don't cause skin cancer but sunbathing without protection might cause it. So you will need to use a sun cream with a high protection factor.
8. To improve your health, you need to take extra vitamins.
Fact: Unless you are ill or live in a part of the world where there isn't much fresh food, you won't need vitamin pills. If you eat healthy food, you'll get all the vitamins you need.
9. The best hours of sleep are the hours before midnight
Fact: Not always like that. Many people need eight hours of sleep but it doesn't matter when they have them. However, if you don't go bed until three in the morning, you may wake up feeling tired.
